The ILA Annual Dinner - a spectacular evening

27/11/14

The ILA's 25th Anniversary Annual Dinner, held under the dinosaur in the impressive Great Hall of the Natural History Museum in London, was a memorable evening. Over 400 members and guests from solicitors' firms, barristers' chambers and other leading UK and overseas organisations attended the prestigious black tie event.

ILA members enjoyed the highly informative pre-dinner lecture in the modern Attenborough Lecture Studio delivered by Judge James Peck, global co-chair of Morrison & Foerster's Business Restructuring & Insolvency Group and former United States Bankruptcy Judge. Judge Peck presided over the largest bankruptcy in U.S. history and delivered a very thought provoking and informative lecture on "Lehmans and the Limits of Universalism".  A copy of the lecture notes is available below.

Following dinner, Philip Hertz gave his Presidential address and took the opportunity to thank members of the ILA Technical Committee and the Council who give so much time, commitment and energy to the Association. Philip introduced Andy McNab, former member of the SAS and the best-selling author of Bravo Two Zero, who entertained members after dinner with stories and anecdotes from his time in the SAS and as a best selling author and consultant to security and intelligence agencies in both the USA and the UK.

Philip thanked American Appraisal for their continued and valued support in sponsoring the event for the third year running and asked the Association to join him in thanking the team from Weil Gotshal & Manges, led by Adam Plainer and Ann Burditt, for their superb organisation of another fantastic evening.
